The Rochelle girls tennis team hosted DeKalb on Wednesday for a nonconference matchup between former Northern Illinois Big 12 Conference foes. The Lady Hubs fell by a score of 5-0 to drop to 2-1 on the season.

ROCHELLE — The Rochelle girls tennis team hosted DeKalb on Wednesday for a nonconference matchup between former Northern Illinois Big 12 Conference foes. The Lady Hubs fell by a score of 5-0 to drop to 2-1 on the season.

Senior Caitlin McMurray fell 4-6, 3-6 against Memorie Mobley on the first varsity singles court, while junior Anna Guevara played a close three-set match with Nancy Leal on the second singles court. Guevara came up just short, falling 6-7, 6-3, 6-10.

Junior Sawyer McGee and sophomore MeLisa Young battled Izi Meyers Miller and Ashley Nelson on the first varsity doubles court, losing 1-6, 3-6. Senior Ruth Gardner and sophomore Jordin Dickey fell 3-6, 3-6 against Kayla Webb and Jayda Minniefield on the second doubles court, while junior Melanie Gonzalez and sophomore Emma Hicks lost 2-6, 1-6 against Addie Lopez and Hou Vo on the third doubles court.

Ottawa

Rochelle opened Interstate Eight Conference play with a road match against the Ottawa Pirates on Thursday. The Lady Hubs fell 5-0 to move to 2-2 overall and 0-1 in the conference.

McMurray fell 0-6, 1-6 against Sara Meyer on the first singles court, while Guevara lost 0-6, 0-6 against Mary Riva on the second singles court. McGee and Young were swept 0-6, 0-6 against Regan O’Fallon and Ella Marvel on the first doubles court.

Dickey and Gardner took three games in their 3-6, 0-6 loss against Rebecca Felty and Marta Johnson on the second doubles court. Hicks and Gonzalez took one game in a 0-6, 1-6 loss against Molly Charbonneau and Emily Walker on the third doubles court.
