Girls Tennis: Lady Hubs shut out against Dixon
Duchesses defeat Rochelle 5-0 on Monday
DIXON — The Rochelle Lady Hub varsity tennis team played the Dixon Duchesses on the road Monday evening, falling 5-0 in nonconference action. Rochelle (2-4, 0-2 Interstate 8) will face Ottawa on the road Tuesday before traveling again for a match against Sterling on Wednesday.
Dixon swept both singles matches, with senior Elin Zheng falling 0-6, 0-6 against Grace Ferguson at No. 1 singles and senior Kara Martinez conceding a 0-6, 0-6 loss to Addison Arjes at No. 2 singles. Juniors Riley Doyle and Kitty Williams played a strong second set during their 0-6, 4-6 loss against Leah Stees and Arielle Tefiku at No. 1 doubles.
Rochelle's No. 2 and No. 3 doubles duos each took four games in two-set losses on Monday. Seniors Annaleigh McKinney and Macenzie Glosser fell 2-6, 2-6 against Rachel Lance and Brooklyn Arjes at No. 2 doubles, while seniors Allie Dickey and Adamaris Betancourt conceded a 1-6, 3-6 loss to Lily Herrera and Siena Kemmeren at No. 3 doubles.
