Girls Tennis: Nantz, Williams score doubles point at Morris

Redskins defeat Lady Hubs 4-1 in conference match

MORRIS — Rochelle seniors Torrin Nantz and Francesca Williams helped the Lady Hub varsity tennis team avoid a road shutout during Tuesday's Interstate 8 Conference match against Morris. The seniors overcame a tough opening set to defeat Redskin netters Faith Bogard and Keira Kjellesvik 0-6, 6-4, 6-4 at the No. 1 doubles court. Morris took the remaining four points to defeat Rochelle 4-1.

The Redskins swept both singles matches, with Gretchen Zarback downing junior Elin Zheng 6-0, 6-0 at the No. 1 singles court and Julia Burgstrom besting senior Abby Tarvestad 6-0, 6-0 at the No. 2 singles court. Shreya Patel and Meghan Bzdill held off seniors Bailey Jackson and Marisa Whaley 6-3, 6-3 at the No. 2 doubles court, while Faith Ragan and Abbey Henson outlasted senior Maleah Pointer and sophomore Riley Doyle 6-0, 7-5 at the No. 3 doubles court.

The Lady Hubs (2-3, 0-2 Interstate 8) will host Dixon on Monday, Sept. 12 at 4:30 p.m.
