ROCHELLE — The Lady Hubs continued varsity action on Wednesday with their third match in three days against Sterling. Rochelle lost to the Golden Warriors by a score of 5-0 to fall to 0-7 overall.
Junior Caitlin McMurray fell 0-6, 0-6 against Sterling’s Abby Aitken at No. 1 singles while sophomore Mindy Pelayo was also shut out (0-6, 0-6) by Saryn Seeley at No. 2 singles. Seniors Jasmine Rissman and Ashlynn Leininger lost 0-6, 0-6 to Sterling’s Katelyn Grell and Sonia Chino at No. 1 doubles.
Sophomore Melanie Gonzalez and junior Ruth Gardner fell 0-6, 0-6 to Lauren Humphreys at No. 2 singles with freshmen Josie Lundquist and MeLisa Young taking one game in their 1-6, 0-6 defeat against Sterling’s Alyssa Marquez and Moira Roddy at No. 3 doubles.
Sterling defeated Rochelle 5-0 at the junior varsity level. Txell Samaranch took two games in a 0-6, 2-6 loss at No. 1 singles while Sawyer McGee claimed one game in her 0-6, 1-6 loss at No. 2 singles. Emma Hicks and Jordin Dickey played a tough three-set match at No. 1 doubles, taking the first set but losing the next two to fall 6-1, 6-7, 5-7.
Riley Flanagan and Yoana Fulgencio fell 1-6, 1-6 at No. 2 doubles while Hailey Miller and Ella Seebach lost 0-6, 0-6 at No. 3 doubles.
