Girls Track: Lady Hubs finish eighth at Interstate 8 Conference meet

Henkel wins 800-meter run, JV team takes fourth place

SYCAMORE — The Rochelle Lady Hub track and field team competed in the Interstate 8 Conference Championship meet at Sycamore High School on Friday evening. The varsity team finished eighth with 23 points and the JV team took fourth out of eight schools with 77 points. Rochelle will participate in the IHSA 2A Sterling Sectional on Thursday, May 11 at 2:30 p.m.

Varsity

Junior Alivia Henkel won the Interstate 8 title and earned All-Conference in the 800-meter run, finishing first with a time of 2:30.02. Freshman Kyrie Cragin earned All-Conference honors in the 300-meter hurdles, taking third with a time of 54.13 seconds. Junior Kylie Smith earned an All-Conference Honorable Mention in the 400-meter dash, placing sixth with a time of 1:06.34.

Rochelle’s 1600-meter relay team (Zoe White, Kyrie Cragin, Arline Villanueva and Anna Toczylowski) finished fourth with a time of 4:37.36. Rochelle’s 400-meter relay team (Rylee Jackson, Miranda Dubek, Alivia Henkel and Kylie Smith) took fifth with a time of 54.57 seconds. Senior Rylee Jackson placed 10th in the 100-meter dash with a time of 14.78 seconds.

Senior Samantha Sanford placed seventh in the shot put with a heave of 8.85 meters and eighth in the discus throw with a personal-record mark of 24.97 meters. Junior Kennedy Adamski finished seventh in the high jump with a clearance of 1.40 meters, eighth in the triple jump with a distance of 8.96 meters and ninth in the long jump with a distance of 4.01 meters. 

JV

Freshman Annaliese Koziol won the 3200-meter run with a time of 14:23.56 and sophomore Arline Villanueva won the 400-meter dash with a time of 1:08.07. Cragin placed second in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 20.90 seconds and sophomore Alex Neece took third in the 200-meter dash with a time of 30.13 seconds. Freshman Mary Chadwick placed eighth in the 800-meter run with a time of 3:08.85 and ninth in the discus with a throw of 21.10 meters.

Freshman Rose Luxton took fourth in the long jump with a distance of 4.23 meters and fifth in the 1600-meter run with a time of 6:36.40. Sophomore Aaliyah Losoya took fourth in the shot put with a heave of 8.51 meters and freshman Samantha Overton placed sixth in the pole vault with a clearance of 1.70 meters. Freshman Ryelee Bogle finished sixth in the 100-meter dash with a time of 14.77 seconds and Rochelle’s 800-meter relay team (Ryelee Bogle, Alex Neece, Zoe White and Carmela Bright) won with a time of 1:58.27. 

Rochelle’s 400-meter relay team (Ryelee Bogle, Carmela Bright, Alex Neece and Arline Villanueva) and 3200-meter relay team (Rose Luxton, Mary Chadwick, Brisa Zepeda and Emely Hernandez) each took second with respective times of 56.13 seconds and 12:34.24. Rochelle’s 1600-meter relay team (Bridgett Ramirez, Brisa Zepeda, Mary Chadwick and Emely Hernandez) placed fourth with a time of 5:28.14.
