The Rochelle Lady Hub track and field team took third in its Interstate 8 Conference meet against Morris and Sycamore on Tuesday. Sycamore finished first with 75.5 points, while Morris placed second with 54.5 and Rochelle landed in third with 38. The Lady Hubs (1-5) will face Sandwich and Seneca on the road next Tuesday, May 11 at 4:30 p.m.

SYCAMORE — The Rochelle Lady Hub track and field team took third in its Interstate 8 Conference meet against Morris and Sycamore on Tuesday. Sycamore finished first with 75.5 points, while Morris placed second with 54.5 and Rochelle landed in third with 38. The Lady Hubs (1-5) will face Sandwich and Seneca on the road next Tuesday, May 11 at 4:30 p.m.

Senior Afi Gati continued her strong start to the season, winning the shot put with a mark of 9.7 meters before taking second in the discus with a distance of 25.85 meters. Senior Kiya Porter finished second in the shot put with a heave of 8.64 meters, while junior Teagan Meyers won the triple jump (9.01 meters) and placed second in the high jump (1.25 meters). Meyers also finished third in both the 200-meter dash (28.91 seconds) and the 400-meter dash (1:06.07).

Junior Sara Johnson won the 800-meter run with a time of 2:54.18 before setting a new personal record in the 1600-meter run, taking seventh in 6:20.73. Sophomore Yuelma Ortiz also set a personal-best time in the meet, placing second in the 3200-meter run with a time of 13:41.97. Junior Liberty Hayes took fifth in the 100-meter dash with a time of 14.32.
