Girls Track: Lady Hubs take home Interstate 8 All-Conference honors

Varsity and fresh-soph teams finish fifth in conference meet at Plano

PLANO — The Rochelle Lady Hub track and field team finished fifth out of eight schools with 81.5 points at the Interstate 8 Conference Championships on Monday. Several Lady Hub student-athletes earned All-Conference and All-Conference Honorable Mentions at the meet.

Senior Teagan Meyers took home All-Conference honors in three individual events. Meyers finished second in the high jump with a clearance of 1.60 meters, third in the triple jump with a distance of 10.24 meters and fourth in the 200-meter dash with a time of 27.91 seconds.

Junior Yuelma Ortiz recorded All-Conference finishes in two individual events, winning the conference title in the 1600-meter run with a time of 5:52.16 and placing second in the 3200-meter run with a time of 13:09.82. Senior Sylvia Hasz earned All-Conference honors in the shot put, taking second with a throw of 10.56 meters, while sophomore Alivia Henkel brought home the conference title in the 400-meter dash, winning the event with a time of 1:01.33.

Rochelle’s 800-meter relay team (Liberty Hayes, Rylee Jackson, Alex Neece and Meyers) finished second in 1:57.09 and received All-Conference honors. Hayes earned All-Conference Honorable Mentions in two individual events, taking fifth in the 200-meter dash with a time of 29.71 seconds and placing sixth in the 100-meter dash with a time of 13.31 seconds. 

Senior Sara Johnson took home an Honorable Mention in the 800-meter run, finishing fifth with a time of 2:46.02. Rochelle will compete in the IHSA 2A Genoa-Kingston Sectional on Friday.

Fresh-Soph

The Rochelle Lady Hub fresh-soph track and field team finished fifth with 74.5 points in the Interstate 8 Conference Championships. Sophomore Kennedy Adamski took fourth in the triple jump with a distance of 8.45 meters and freshman Marianna Saldana placed fourth in the pole vault with a clearance of 1.80 meters. Freshman Aaliyah Losoya finished sixth in the shot put with a distance of 7.73 meters and sixth in the discus throw with a distance of 18.28 meters.

Rochelle’s 400-meter relay (Adamski, Macy Ramos, Jackson and Saldana) took fifth with a time of 59.98 seconds. Neece and Saldana went third and fourth in the 100-meter hurdles with respective times of 20.00 seconds and 20.05 seconds. Freshman Zoe White placed third in the 800-meter run with a time of 3:00.33 and Rochelle’s 800-meter relay team finished fourth with a time of 2:06.38. Sophomore Kylie Smith won the 400-meter dash with a time of 1:11.48.

Neece and White went fourth and sixth in the 300-meter hurdles with respective times of 1:06.31 and 1:08.14. Jackson and Smith placed second and fifth in the 200-meter dash with respective times of 30.57 seconds and 30.99 seconds.
