Girls Track: Lady Hubs take seventh at Sterling Night Relays

Meyers wins high jump, Hasz earns two third-place throwing finishes

STERLING — The Rochelle Lady Hub varsity track and field team placed seventh out of eight schools in the Sterling Night Relays on Friday. The Lady Hubs scored 35.97 points in the meet.

Senior Teagan Meyers won the high jump with a clearance of 1.60 meters and Meyers finished second in the triple jump with a distance of 9.87 meters. Sophomore Alivia Henkel took fifth in the pole vault with a clearance of 2.21 meters and senior Liberty Hayes placed sixth in the long jump with a distance of 4.34 meters. Senior Sylvia Hasz finished third in the shot put with a throw of 9.99 meters and third in the discus with a personal-record throw of 32.10 meters. 

Henkel finished second in the 300-meter hurdles with a time of 48.14 seconds and junior Yuelma Ortiz took sixth in the 1600-meter run with a time of 5:48.95. The 400-meter relay team (Hayes, Rylee Jackson, Alex Neece and Henkel) placed sixth in 53.69 seconds and the 800-meter relay team (Hayes, Jackson, Meyers and Baylie Sutton) took sixth in 1:58.13. The 1600-meter relay team (Henkel, Meyers, Jackson and Kylie Smith) finished fourth with a time of 4:27.83.

Rochelle’s 4000-meter distance medley relay team (Sara Johnson, Hayes, Zoe White and Ortiz) finished sixth with a time of 15:31.05. Rochelle’s shuttle hurdle relay team (Johnson, Marianna Saldana, White and Neece) took fourth with a time of 1:22.56.
