The Rochelle Lady Hub track and field team defeated both Sandwich and Seneca on the road Tuesday, rallying behind its success in the sprint and sprint relay events to score 70 points and edge the Indians (68) by two points. Seneca took third in the meet with 17 points.

SANDWICH — The Rochelle Lady Hub track and field team defeated both Sandwich and Seneca on the road Tuesday, rallying behind its success in the sprint and sprint relay events to score 70 points and edge the Indians (68) by two points. Seneca took third in the meet with 17 points.

Junior Liberty Hayes finished first in the 100-meter dash, while freshmen Alivia Henkel and Kylie Smith took second and third, respectively. Juniors Teagan Meyers and Hayes placed first and second in the 200-meter dash, respectively, while Rochelle won both the 400-meter relay and the 800-meter relay. Junior Sara Johnson won the 100-meter hurdles in 20.31 seconds.

Seniors Afi Gati and Kiya Porter led the Lady Hubs (3-5) in the throwing events, with Gati finishing second in the shot put with a heave of 10.14 meters and Porter placing third in the discus with a throw of 24.26 meters. Meyers won the high jump with a clearance of 1.47 meters and Henkel took the pole vault with a height of 2.29 meters. Meyers and sophomore Baylie Sutton went second and third in the triple jump with leaps of 9 and 7.94 meters.

Johnson and sophomore Yuelma Ortiz anchored the distance crew, finishing second and third in the 1600-meter run with times of 6:20.32 and 6:40.97. Ortiz won the 3200-meter run unopposed, while sophomore Ahtziri Zepeda recorded a third-place finish in the 800-meter run.
