Metzger shoots team-low 84 for 18th place individually

STERLING — The Rochelle Hub varsity golf team competed in the Sterling Invitational at Emerald Hill on Saturday afternoon. Sophomore Ian Metzger finished with an 18-hole round of 84 to take 18th individually, while freshman Alex Dyer followed with a 90 as the Hubs finished 11th out of 12 schools. Rochelle (2-10, 0-5 Interstate 8) will travel for the Interstate 8 Conference meet at Kishwaukee Country Club on Monday.

Senior Obie Nava fired a 98 and senior Owen Messer followed with a 102 for the Hubs, who will travel for the IHSA 2A Rock Falls Regional at Deer Valley on Wednesday afternoon. Freshman Owen Carmichael and senior Chandler Cunningham recorded scores of 104 and 111 to round out the varsity roster during Saturday's tournament.
