STERLING — Three local golfers competed in the Optimist Tournament at Sterling’s Emerald Hill Golf Course earlier this week.
Megan Thiravong fired 83 over 18 holes to finish first in the 14-to-18 Girls Division, while Ailani Thiravong won the 10-to-12 Girls Division with 56 over nine holes. Ian Metzger took home the 12-to-14 Boys Division crown with 52 over nine holes.
Megan will advance to play in the Optimist Tournament at Decatur, where she will attempt to qualify for a prize package to play a Trump National Doral Miami in Florida.
