Sophomore shoots match-low 41 as Hubs fall to Spartans 169-182

SYCAMORE — Sophomore Ian Metzger fired a match-low nine-hole round of 41 to earn medalist honors during the Rochelle Hub varsity golf team's Interstate 8 Conference match against Sycamore on Tuesday. Freshman Alex Dyer followed with a 43 and two players including senior Owen Messer and freshman Owen Carmichael shot 49 as the Spartans defeated the Hubs 169-182.

Seniors Cale Workman and Parker Lenkaitis rounded out the Rochelle varsity lineup with respective scores of 51 and 55 during the nine-hole match at Sycamore Golf Club. Seniors Obie Nava and Chandler Cunningham each shot a 50 to lead the JV team, while freshman Preston Borris added a 51 and junior Chris Hickey carded a 59. Rochelle (0-5, 0-2 Interstate 8) will face Oregon and North Boone in a road match Wednesday evening.
