ROCHELLE — Gregory Torres, 48, of Rochelle, passed away peacefully Tuesday, Aug. 9 at home with his family by his side. Greg was born on Nov. 3, 1973, the son of Jesse and Guadalupe (Silva) Torres in Snyder, Texas. On May 13, 2000, he married Yolonda Huffman in Sycamore.
Greg was a 1992 graduate of Rochelle Township High School. In school, he won several wrestling and cross-country medals. He loved spending time with his family, especially his wife, kids and grandkids; he was one proud PopPop (as his grandkids called him). Greg always worked his hardest, doing whatever it took to make sure his family was taken care of and provided for. He always coached and encouraged his kids in everything they did. He was their biggest fan. Greg was the best husband and father a family could ever ask for.
Greg is survived by his wife, Yolonda; two sons: Alexander (Kaylee Jones) Torres and Jordan Torres; three grandchildren, Josue Albanil, Sofia Cabanas, and Mateo Torres; the mother of his grandchildren, Lynn Rodriguez; his mother, Guadalupe Torres; brothers and sisters, Jesus (Olga) Torres Martinez, Rodrigo (Guadalupe) Torres Martinez, Tim (Sarah) Tijerina, Julian (Pam) Tijerina, Frances Tijerina, Josie Tijerina, Willie Walker, Susie (Corey) Kreider, Vicki Torres, Rosemary Vasquez and Jesse Torres; father-in-law, Roy Huffman and several nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his father, Jesse Torres, and mother-in-law, Carole Huffman.
