Gruben reaches agreement with city on downtown building purchase

Posted

ROCHELLE — Rochelle City Council approved an amendment to a redevelopment agreement for a downtown building.
The agreement is with Jana Gruben for the three-story building located at 413 W. Fourth Avenue. Last month the building suffered water damage from heavy rains.
The amended agreement reflects the new purchase price of $1, which was reduced from $10,000. Gruben said the revised agreement with the city will expedite the transfer of property.

“By doing the amendment due to flooding issues, it will speed the process up. The transfer will be closed and in my possession prior to the end of the month,” Gruben said. “This will allow us to get in there and start the work quicker.”
Gruben said plans are in the works to possibly expand her business, Storybook Gardens. She also said the public should expect to see the project move quickly.
“Some new people have gotten involved with the project and people will see a lot of things moving fast on that side of the block,” Gruben said.
