ROCHELLE — Guy Richard Bays, 65, of Rochelle passed away on Nov. 19. Guy was born on Dec. 18, 1955 in Fort Sill, Oklahoma to Oliver and Beula (Strom) Bay.

He grew up as a military brat. He went to four different high schools, even overseas in Germany. He graduated in 1974 from Burguss High School in El Paso, Texas. He went on to serve with the U.S. Army as a sergeant. He worked for 25 years with Northern Illinois University. He served as commander for Eastern Ogle-Lee Honor Guard and also had served as commander of Rochelle VFW Post 3878.

Guy married Kathy Smith on May 5, 1984 in Creston. He enjoyed fishing, the outdoors and especially enjoyed spending time with his family.

Guy is survived by his wife, Kathy; two children, Tonia (Gerardo) Bonilla of Rochelle and Shane (Jessica) Bays of Rochelle; two brothers, Mark (Deb) Bays of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and Clay (Linda) Bay of San Diego, California; seven grandchildren, Kelsey, Brayen, Reiley, Alessandrea, Emma, Leah and Brantley and one great randchild, Madani.

Memorial visitation with a celebration of life and military honors will be celebrated Nov. 26 at the Rochelle V.F.W. Post 3878 at 318 4^th Ave. Rochelle. from noon to 4 p.m.
