ROCHELLE — Habitat for Humanity of Ogle County hopes to complete another home for a family in Rochelle in 2022 after finishing one for a local family recently, a Facebook post said Tuesday.
Applications are currently being taken for the next Habitat home for those interested in becoming a homeowner and living in Rochelle where the next build will take place.
Habitat’s homeowner selection is managed at our local affiliate level, and future orientation meetings will be scheduled in various Ogle County communities to answer questions. For more information or to learn how you can apply, please contact Vanessa White-Broome, executive director at [email protected]
“At Habitat, we believe that everyone should have a safe, affordable place to call home,” White-Broome said in a Facebook post. “To carry out our vision, we partner with individuals and families from the application process through construction to when the keys are handed over.”
Habitat helps families to prepare for homeownership by teaching them about personal finances, mortgages, maintenance, upkeep of homes, and more. Homeowners are also required to put in work on the builds.
Prospective Habitat homeowners must demonstrate a need for safe, affordable housing. Need will vary and its family selection members will visit residences to determine this.
Homeowners must also be able and willing to pay an affordable mortgage.
