ROCHELLE — It’s a new store with a familiar name.

Officially as of Friday, Ace Hardware will be occupying the corner of North Seventh Street and Flagg Road.

Owner Chris Amir brings with him over 15 years of experience with the Ace Hardware brand; Amir also owns locations in Sandwich, Princeton and Seneca.

He explained what customers can expect at the store. Renovations are set to begin mid-March and should take about four to five weeks. A grand opening will be planned in the coming months.

“Basically, customers will walk in and it will be a completely different experience,” Amir began. “All new LED lighting, new shelving and fixtures and pretty much all new inventory … we will be adding 10,000-15,000 items, more in-depth selections of plumbing, nuts, bolts and hardware.”

The store will feature a fishing section, an expansive paint section and a lawn and garden department with several categories of mulches, soils and potting mixes.

The store will also carry live flowers in the spring.

Amir plans to offer lumber and still continue the services previously offered by R & D Do It Best including LP tank refills, screen and window repair, sharpening and delivery services.

He also indicated several employed by Do It Best plan to stay on staff.

The store will remain open during the transition and renovations with products available for sale.

“It will be a completely new fresh look,” Amir added. “We are a family run, family owned business. I think we’ve been pretty successful doing these hardware stores. It will be a smooth transition and when this is done it will be amazing.”

Store hours will be Monday through Saturday, 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Sunday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Ace Hardware will also offer Hubs spirit wear; a portion of sales will be donated to Rochelle Township High School.
