Hayden elected new park board president

ROCHELLE — Tim Hayden has been voted in as the new president of the Flagg-Rochelle Community Park District Board after a reorganization of officers on Monday afternoon.
Typically, the board elects officers each year in May, but due to having a vacancy on the board the reorganization was postponed.
“Once Joe Lenkaitis was appointed to fill the board vacancy, it gave the commissioners the opportunity to hold their election of officers,” explained district office and program manager Maureen Stevens.
Hayden replaces Brent Carmichael, who will now serve as assistant secretary.

Bud Norcross will continue on as vice president of the board, while Dale Wells will serve as secretary and John Dobbs as treasurer. Lenkaitis will serve as assistant treasurer.
After the realignment of officers, the commissioners spent two hours in closed session Monday night interviewing three candidates for the vacant executive director position. Six applicants have been interviewed thus far to fill the job, which has been open since early March.
Stevens said second interviews are expected to be scheduled soon with finalists for the position.
