Hillcrest man sentenced for part in home invasion

HILLCREST — Following a home invasion incident in October 2016, a Hillcrest man has pled guilty in Ogle County Court and has been sentenced to three years in the Illinois Department of Corrections.
Keegan Akers, 22, pled guilty Friday to the felony offense robbery for his involvement in a home invasion in the 900 block of Lakeview Drive. No weapons were used during the robbery and the victims did know the three men — one of which was Akers — who took money from the home.
Akers was sentenced to three years in the DOC with two years mandatory supervised release. He must pay fines and court costs of more than $3,700 and restitution in the amount of $1,200.
He also pled guilty to the felony offense of aggravated battery following an altercation early this year. He received a 30-month probation that will run consecutively to the three year prison sentence.
