HILLCREST — Although no action was taken at Wednesday evening’s Hillcrest meeting, officials heard from a Comcast representative regarding the franchise agreement currently set to expire next March.
Joan Sage, Manager, Government and Regulatory Affairs with Comcast explained the new franchise agreement would be for 10 years. The newer standardized version of the franchise agreement has already been adopted by about 500 communities that are served by Comcast. The FCC mandates a contract be in place in order for the cable and internet company to provide service in communities.
Sage also explained an affordable internet service provided by Comcast for low-income residents. More information is available at the village hall.
Trustees made no decisions and will have village attorney Paul Chadwick, who was not present at the meeting, review the agreement. A vote is expected at the next meeting.
After an executive session, trustees approved a motion to begin searching for a new part-time water technician to replace the current technician who put in his resignation. The position is approximately 11 hours a week.
Trustees will hold another budget meeting on Aug. 15 at 7 p.m.
