ROCHELLE — Last month 105 CHS employees, vendors, and business partners hit the links for the 8th annual charity golf outing, raising $20,000 for the Flagg-Rochelle Community Park District.

Lynn Smith, Human Resources Coordinator/Assistant for CHS Rochelle explained this year’s focus was to help with the park district’s American Disabilities Act safety improvements for the bleachers at Helms Field.

“CHS is committed to giving back to the community where we do business and take pride in being responsible community stewards,” Smith said. “CHS Rochelle continues to build relationships within our local communities and remains connected with its charity recipients.”

Roger Bunger, Executive Director for Flagg-Rochelle Community Park District said it has been a goal to be 100 percent compliant with Title II of the ADA within the next five years.

“One of our 2017 projects was to remove the Helms Stadium bleachers and replace them with new ADA compliant bleachers,” Bunger said. “This was a project we were taking on in conjunction with Rochelle Junior Tackle as this is where their home games take place.”

With the exception of some finishing touches on the landscaping, the project has been completed. The park district has spent approximately $60,000 for the bleacher upgrade.

“On behalf of the park district, we are very grateful to have been chosen as the receiving organization and I can personally attest that CHS, Inc. is a very professional organization (beginning with the golf outing they hosted) and they put a great deal of emphasis on the community and giving back,” Bunger said.
