Honoring John Zimmerman

GoFundMe donations to fund memorial bench at Floyd J. Tilton Park

Posted

ROCHELLE — John Zimmerman was loved by many and there has been an outpouring of support from everyone who knew him. Help honor his memory by donating.

Donations will be used to purchase a memorial bench at the Floyd J. Tilton park in Rochelle. The exact location will be chosen by the Flagg Rochelle Community Park District staff, but the suggestion is to place the bench near the girls’ softball field. This is where John could be found on many days spending his time coaching his daughter, Riley, and many other local children in the Rochelle Little League program.

Once the fundraiser goal has been reached, the bench will be applied for and purchased through the park district and a location will be selected. It will have a 5-inch by 12-inch bronze plaque that will have a short message and end with “donated by family and friends.”

You can help honor John Zimmerman and show continued love and support for him and his family that will last many years as a permanent memorial bench. Donate and share this fundraiser with others who knew John "JZ" Zimmerman.

You can place your donation by going to GoFundMe then search for John Zimmerman and the fundraiser, started by Eric Hintzsche, will pop up.

All additional donations exceeding the goal will be put into a trust for John's children.
