Horse barn committee eyes new fundraisers for 2019

Posted

OREGON — The Ogle County Horse Barn Committee is planning the 2019 events for fundraising efforts to build a horse barn on the Ogle County Fairgrounds.
The committee is looking forward to having a barn to utilize. Plans for an event every weekend at the fairgrounds is the goal. The barn will be used all year with equine events in the spring, summer and fall, and, RV storage in the winter. It will make money for the Fair Association.

The committee has spoken with the Clydesdale Breeders Associationabout participating in the shows. There is a big interest in draft and draft cross horses as riding horses. We are in the process ofcontacting exhibitors of draft horses of all breeds about participating.
Miniature horses are another breed that has seen a big upsurge in popularity. There are several exhibitors that breed, train and show these athletic little horses. Both the drafts and minis are being shown in hand, under saddle, in cartsand in hitches.
Gift certificates for the Wild Rose Casino in Clinton, Iowa, for a one night’s stay and a $25 food allowance are available. This would make an awesome Christmas gift. $75 donation requested. Email shadowboxerarabians@gmail.com.
Sponsors for events and donations to the barn fund are welcome.
