ROCHELLE — The Rochelle Township High School golf team brought home a 191-220 win over Sandwich on Tuesday at Fairways Golf Course.
The Hubs had a busy few days, playing in a Rockford tournament on Saturday, hosting Kaneland on Monday and Sandwich on Tuesday.
Rochelle was led by Megan Thiravong and Reese Kirk, who shot 44 and 45, respectively in the win over Sandwich.
Griffin Ohlinger carded a 49 on the day and Shepard Hayes posted a 53 to round out the Hubs team score.
“We shot nine strokes under 200, so that was good to see,” said Rochelle head coach Glen Mehrings. “Reese’s game is really improving and Griffin is hitting the ball well.”
Thiravong, Kirk and Ohlinger all received individual conference points for their efforts on Tuesday.
Kaneland loss

Monday’s home match against Kaneland was a bit tougher for the Hubs, who fell 160-200.
Thiravong led Rochelle with a low score of 43, while Kirk shot 49.
Kaneland’s Josh Pehl fired an impressive 35 and his teammate Bryce Stair carded a 39 for the Knights.
Ohlinger scored a 52 for the Hubs, while Hayes came in with a 56.
Thiravong ninth
On Saturday, the Hubs participated in a 20-team tournament at Rockford’s Aldeen Golf Course and placed 15th with a total score of 382.
Boylan won the event with a total team score of 311.
Thiravong had a nice day for Rochelle, shooting an 18-hole total of 80 and taking home a ninth place medal.
“Megan had a nice day,” said Mehrings. “She struck the ball well and was pretty soldid all the way around.’
Kirk shot a 93 in the tournament, Bret Ferguson had a 103 and Ohlinger shot a 106.
The Hubs are back in action this Saturday in another tournament.
