DEKALB — Rochelle juniors Tyler Johnson and Brady Shank each averaged over 200 pins per game when the Hubs varsity bowling team returned to DeKalb’s Mardi Gras Lanes this past Saturday for the IHSA Sectional hosted by DeKalb High School.
Johnson totaled 1,247 pins over six games with a high score of 233, and Shank shot 1,230 with a high game of 227 to lead Rochelle to 12th place out of 16 schools with 5,819 pins. The Hubs rolled 951 in their first game behind 211 from Johnson and 216 from junior Dallas Driver.
Rochelle upped its total to 996 in the second game, with four players cracking 200 including Johnson (233), Driver (214), Shank (211) and senior Tyler Nalley (202). Senior Mark Bratko’s team-high 236 game propelled Rochelle to 1,000 in its third game with Johnson adding 210 and Shank shooting 204.
The Hubs began the second half of competition with a 972 in their fourth game behind 215 from Shank and 214 from Johnson. Shank rolled 227 and Bratko chipped in 209 to help Rochelle score 932 in its fifth game, and the Hubs ended tournament play with 968 in their sixth and final game. Driver finished with 1,169, while Bratko recorded 1,103 and Nalley added 1,070.
