ROCHELLE — Rochelle junior Brady Shank rolled one of his best three-game series scores of the season when the Hubs varsity bowling team hosted the Yorkville Foxes for a Northern Illinois Big 12 Conference battle at Rochelle’s T-Byrd Lanes on Thursday.
Despite a valiant effort from the purple and white, Yorkville bounced back from a loss in the first game to take the next two games and the overall series by a final score of 3,508-3,441. The defeat drops Rochelle’s overall record to 4-9 on the season. The Hubs defeated Yorkville 1,204-1,175 in the opening game behind 246 from junior Dallas Driver and 227 from Shank.
Michael Nape Jr.’s 242 and Caden Fairless’ 227 headlined Yorkville’s effort in the first game. The Foxes took the second game 1,171-1,120, with Nape Jr. throwing 258 and Dante Gashi adding 196. Senior Tyler Nalley tossed 259 to lead Rochelle in the middle game, while Driver added 190.
Yorkville won the third game 1,162-1,117 to take the match behind 228 from Fairless and 223 from Gashi. Nape Jr. rolled Yorkville’s high series of 681, while Shank shot 258 to finish with a team-high 660 series for Rochelle. Nalley totaled 601 on Thursday, and junior Tyler Johnson rolled 203 in the final game for a 582 series. Driver finished with 590 for the Hubs.
