ROCHELLE — After defeating Oregon and North Boone in a triangular meet Wednesday evening, the Hubs varsity golf team kept its momentum rolling with a strong showing against the Ottawa Pirates on Thursday at Fairways Golf Course, the site of Rochelle’s first home match this season.
The Hubs knocked two strokes off their total from Wednesday, drawing the Pirates 172-172 behind seniors Noah Griffith and Garrett Glosser, who led Rochelle to a 174 against Oregon and North Boone. Griffith shot a team-low score of 40, and Glosser added a 41 to pace the Hubs on Thursday.
Junior Hayden Jones continued his stretch of solid play at the No. 3 varsity spot, shooting a 43 after turning in a 46 on Wednesday. Freshman Megan Thiravong scored a 48 to round out the varsity team’s top four scores on Thursday. Rochelle moves to 3-4-1 on the season, and the players will return to action at the Rocket Invitational this weekend.
