Miller leads Rochelle in throwing events, DeLille headlines jumpers

MAPLE PARK — The Hubs track and field team competed at Kaneland’s Peterson Prep Classic this past Saturday against a crowded and competitive field of Class 2A and Class 3A schools. While Rochelle failed to score at either the varsity or fresh-soph levels, several boys recorded personal bests on the day.

Senior DiQuan Ishmon placed 24th in the 100-meter dash with a PR of 12.67 seconds, and junior Mason DeLille finished 18th in the 200-meter dash with a PR of 25.95. Senior Ben Pflipsen was 28th in the 100-meter dash (13.00) and 20th in the 200-meter dash (26.39).

Junior Connor Lenkaitis ran a PR of 2:10.12 to finish 17th in the 800-meter run, while sophomore Gyvanziel Quinonez PR’d in the 1600-meter run with a time of 4:49.40 to place 20th. Junior Ryan Friestad took 19th in the 110-meter hurdles with a PR of 18.88, and freshman Trevor Goodwin PR’d in the 300-meter hurdles at 53.86 for 27th.

Rochelle’s 400-meter relay team of juniors Eddie Villalobos, Greg Ricketts, Noah Knight and Alex Louck finished 13th with a time of 46.73. The Hubs placed 10th in the 800-meter relay with a time of 1:37.49 behind Villalobos, Ricketts, Knight and Louck.

Senior Zach Miller placed ninth in the shot put (40-11) and 19th in the discus with a PR of 100-10. DeLille finished 16th in the high jump with a PR of 5-8 and sophomore Aaron Vondergathen took 13th in the pole vault with a clearance of 8 feet. DeLille PR’d for 15th in the long jump (18-8 ½) and DeLille finished 15h in the triple jump (38-11).
