ROCHELLE — Cedar Siding Inc. recently held a summer picnic and awards ceremony, recognizing 14 employees for five years of service and one employee for 25 years of service.
The ceremony was highlighted by the announcement of the 4th annual James T. Melvin Spirit Award, which was given to Alex Hueramo.
“I am honored to receive this award and want to thank everyone at Cedar Siding Inc. who nominated me,” he said. “I have been here for 23 years and everybody treats me like family and this is a great company to work for. I especially thank Jim, who hired me and helped me rise through the ranks to a manger position; he was there to help me through his confidence, support and mentorship.”

Hueramo has been employed at Cedar Siding, Inc. for 23 years and is the manager of our Outbound Shipping Department (“The Bunkers”).
James (Jim) Melvin was the plant manager of Cedar Siding, Inc. and was employed for more than 25 years before he passed away in April 2015. The owner and management team came up with this award as a way of honoring their longtime friend and co-worker.
Each year an employee who exhibits the finest character traits that Melvin was known for — someone who brought joy to his co-workers day in and day out and also to recognize that special individuals such as these are truly extraordinary in today’s business world.
Employees nominate fellow employees for the award. The nominees are evaluated by a panel of three judges based on the following criteria: Strong work ethic, trustworthiness, dependability, sense of humor, accountability and leadership.
Cedar Siding, Inc. is a wholesale distributor of factory finished siding and decking products headquartered in Rochelle and recently held an annual summer picnic and awards ceremony.
