Serenity Hospice and Home hosted its annual butterfly release on June 29. Despite the heat, a record number of attendees released nearly 400 Monarch butterflies. This yearly symbolic event always draws a crowd with some families returning year after year to release a butterfly in memory of their loved one. This year, three patients from the Serenity Home came outside to enjoy the fresh air and the beautiful butterflies. Mary Ley from Aireloom Studios provided live music and the Navigator Group supplied cupcakes adorned with edible sugar butterflies. Pictured are Sandy McCammond and her granddaughter, Remy McCammond, who released a butterfly in memory of Sandy’s husband and Remy’s grandfather.
