ROCHELLE — James (Spencer) Roberson, died Dec. 1 at the age of 79. He was born July 29, 1942 in Russellville, Alabama to Thomas Henry and Elsie (Cain) Roberson and was the last living son of the family. He is preceded in death by his brothers Bill, John and Henry; and sisters, Wilma, Mae, Jean, Nell and Corrine; nephews, Wallace, Alan, Jeff, Rodney, Ronnie and Craig; along with special niece, Denese, Crawford family in Texas; ex-wife, Marilyn Roberson and their unborn child.

Survived by daughter, M. Diane Roberson, Loves Park; sisters, Elnor (Orvil) McDonald, Roscoe, Margret (Elton) Jack of Haleyville, Alabama, Peggy (Stanley) Waite of Edmonds, Washington, Patricia Jones of Glasgow, Kentucky and Carol (Rodney) Burgoyne of Coloma. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.

He was a member of Harvest Baptist Church in Hillcrest. He spent many years teaching third and fourth graders Sunday school in several Southern Baptist churches through the years. He worked at Swift and Rochelle Foods. He was a proud union member. The TV was always on watching CNN or sporting events. His favorite teams were the New York Yankees and Alabama Crimson Tide.

Thank you to the care given to him at Generations Nursing Home. Special thank you to the Capes and Mear families who kept an extra eye on dad the last few years.

Memorial service will be held at 6 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 9 at Honquest Family Funeral Home with Crematory – Mulford Chapel, 4311 N. Mulford Rd., Loves Park with a visitation from 4 p.m. until time of service.
