ROCHELLE — John Joseph Pluemer, 82, passed away Sunday, Jan. 26, 2020 at Serenity Hospice and Home in Oregon.
John was born on Nov. 5, 1937 to Leonard and Bernadine Pluemer in Potosi, Wisconsin. He proudly served with the United States Air Force from 1956 - 1960. John married Anne Walsh in 1960, she preceded him in 1995. In 1998 he married Carol Hartweg Stockton in Rochelle.
John was a CPA serving in several senior financial roles for various firms over 33 years. He enjoyed gardening, cooking and fishing and was a very competitive pinochle player. He was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Rochelle.
John is survived by his wife, Carol, of Rochelle; four children, Joan (Mike) Lorenz of Waukesha, Wisconsin, Lynn (Jerry) Meissner of Shorewood, Wisconsin, Tom (Martha) Pluemer of Highlands Ranch, Colorado, and Matt (Carrie) Pluemer of Eden Prairie, Minnesota; four step children, Greg Stockton of Sandwich, Ryan (Lily) Stockton of Rochelle, Jill Stockton of Euless, Texas, and Blake (Bobbi) Stockton of Rochelle; two brothers, Herb and Steve Pluemer; two sisters, Margaret Dastur and Alice Kay; eight grandchildren, Emily and Sarah Lorenz, Maggie and Joe Meissner, Elizabeth and Alison Pluemer and Molly and Collin Pluemer; eight step-grandchildren, Nichole Baehr, Luke Stockton, Brock Bidlingmaier, Calyn Milz, Jon Stockton, Christopher Stockton, Allison Stockton and Wyatt Stockton; and eight step great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, John is preceded in death by his first wife, Anne; two brothers, Larry and Michael, and step grandchild, Grace Stockton.
Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 1 at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 236 Kelley Drive, Rochelle. The memorial mass will follow at 11 a.m. at the church with Father Ruben Herrera officiating. A memorial service including burial with graveside service will be announced and held in Tennyson, WI at a later date.
In lieu flowers, memorials may be made in John’s memory to Serenity Hospice & Home, St. Patrick Catholic Church or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
