ROCHELLE — Bring your family and friends along with a lucky charm or two to this year’s Ralfie’s BBQ Lucky Hub Dash 5K on March 17 outside the Holiday Inn Express in Rochelle.
Runners and teams of all ages are welcome to this third annual event and are encouraged to wear their craziest green gear for the “Festive Dress” contest.
Registration starts at 8:30 a.m. Race time is 10 a.m.
“Everyone is welcome to participate, and they can run or walk,” said Tricia Herrera, Rochelle Chamber of Commerce Board President and Delegates Chair. “We encourage families to participate as a group.”
Herrera said running clubs from the elementary district and outlying schools will be taking part in the event.
“This event is a great fun filled day for runners and families alike,” Herrera said. “We hope to promote fun, fitness, and our sponsors with this annual chamber event. We encourage everyone to participate while wearing their best ‘green gear’ because everyone is Irish on St. Patrick’s Day! Come on out to the Ralfie’s BBQ Lucky Hub Dash on March 17!”
Going with the theme of green for St. Patrick’s Day, event organizers will have green Gatorade for the kids and green beer for those 21 years of age and older.
Cost is $35 per runner and includes a t-shirt and goodie bag filled with items from the sponsors. Cost for a four-leaf clover (team) is $115.
The race starts and ends at the Holiday Inn Express, 1240 N. Dement Road, Rochelle, along a secure route on Dement Road to Twombly Road.
