ROCHELLE — Jules Emil “Luke” Cote, 101, passed away on May 20, 2018, at Presence St. Anne Center in Rockford. Luke was born March 22, 1917, to Philippe and Alma (Routhier) Cote in Lyster Station, Quebec, Canada.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Mae (Ihnen) Cote; son, Christopher; nine brothers, Emile, Antonio, Henri, Robert, Raoul, Alcide, Roger, Jean Louis, and Baby Emile Cote; and seven sisters, Rita McNichols, Mary Anthenat, Alda Farnham, Margaret Walters, Bertha Tarkenton, Monique Cote and Jeannine Rioux.
During World War II, from 1942-1945, Luke proudly served in the United States Army throughout Europe, Africa, and the Middle East.
Luke is survived by his brother, Bertrand J. Cote; sons, Phillip and Antonio; grandchildren, Michelle Cote-Dear, K.C. Cote and Christian Cote; and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 9 to 10:15 a.m. on Friday, May 25 at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 236 Kelley Drive, Rochelle. Funeral mass will follow at 10:30 a.m. with Father Jeremy Trowbridge officiating. Interment will follow at St. Patrick Catholic Cemetery in Rochelle with military rites provided by the Eastern Lee-Ogle Honor Guard.
