ROCHELLE — After taking down the DeKalb Barbs on the road Tuesday evening, the Hubs varsity bowling returned to Rochelle’s T-Byrd Lanes for a nonconference rematch with the Streator Bulldogs. And despite falling to Streator earlier this season, the purple and white exacted revenge against the Bulldogs on Wednesday, winning 3,282-3,032 to improve to 4-7 on the year.
“They’ve been really focusing on picking up their spares,” head coach Doug Koch said. “We changed our lineup to mix things up and I think the boys are jiving together. We aren’t so lopsided like we were before and we’re much more focused.”
Streator opened the match with a 1,071-1,067 win in the first game behind 208 from Max O’Brien and 202 from Seth Kelly. Junior Dallas Driver anchored Rochelle with 223, and the Hubs rebounded to take the second game 1,130-1,009, with senior Tyler Nalley (218), junior Brady Shank (215) and junior Tyler Johnson (210) all topping the 200-mark.
Rochelle sealed the match with a 1,085-952 victory in the third game. Johnson added 215 to his three-game series total of 584, while Shank shot 205 to finish with 583. Driver rolled 576 and Nalley recorded 572 for the Hubs.
“They’ve been progressing quite well,” Koch said. “You can see it game after game.”
