ROCHELLE — Kathleen Lynn Messer, 63, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 20, 2021 at Rochelle Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in Rochelle. Kathy was born on Sept. 11, 1957 to Paul and Myrtle (Reitz) Messer in Rochelle.
Kathy brought much joy to her family and friends especially as she participated in the Special Olympics, singing her heart out in church , at birthday parties and Christmas gatherings. She was a devoted Packer fan. Whenever she said, “I pray for you,” you knew God heard her! Most of Kathy’s life was spent at Provena St. Vincent in Freeport. For over 25 years, she worked at Malcolm Eaton in the kitchen. She loved her job and working.
Preceding her in going home to be with Jesus were her father, mother, brother, Jerry and brother-in-law, Warren Seebach.
Kathy is survived by her sister, Bev Seebach, brother, Gene (Judy) Messer and sister-in-law, Lynn Messer as well as several nieces and nephews.
The Messer family would like to give a special thank you to the staff at Rochelle Rehab for the extra-ordinary care, concern and love shown to Kathy over these last few years.
A private burial was at the Ashton Cemetery on Thursday, Jan. 21. The Unger-Horner Funeral Home assisted the family with services. There will be a memorial service at a later date.
