Keeping track of important dates while helping to support a local organization

Posted

OREGON — The Ogle County Sheriff’s Office has combined a great way to keep track of important events and activities while supporting a great cause.

The sheriff’s office is taking orders for their 2018 wall calendar fundraiser featuring pictures of all things related to the department including patrol cars and SWAT team training.

Sheriff Brian VanVickle explained the department has done a calendar for the last two years through a company to raise money for the K9 program. This year the officers combined their creativity and passion for photography and assembled it themselves.

Aside from what the department will need to pay Hub Printing to print calendars, 100 percent of the proceeds will go to HOPE of Ogle County.

“We (Sheriff’s Department) do a lot of close work with HOPE. We wanted to donate to an organization within the county,” VanVickle said. “It was a good fit.”

Orders are being taken for the calendar currently, with an anticipated print date in the beginning of August. VanVickle said they are hoping to complete the project in time to sell the calendars at the Ogle County Fair on Aug. 3,4, and 5.

Debby Katzman, Vice President of HOPE’s board of trustees expressed gratitude to the sheriff’s office for their continued assistance. Katzman said the board of the domestic violence shelter is thankful the agency will be the fundraiser’s recipient.

“They work with us at HOPE in such a great way. We are happy we have that connection,” Katzman said. “Thank you to the sheriff’s department for working with us and being such a supportive energy towards HOPE. We are really thankful for all their support and for thinking of us.”

To order a calendar, please email Danielle Hardesty at dhardesty@oglecounty.org or visit the Facebook page “2018 Ogle County Sheriff’s Office calendar fundraiser for HOPE of Ogle County.” The Sheriff’s Office still has sponsoring opportunities available.
