MALTA — Kishwaukee College Radiologic Technology graduates participated in a traditional pinning ceremony on Monday, June 25 in Jenkins Auditorium in the Kishwaukee College Conference Center.
Graduates

The 2018 Radiologic Technology graduates are: Emily Fandre, Rockton; Sara Kerner, Waterman; Sarah Krupke, DeKalb; Lauren Kalata, Rochelle; Paul McMillan, Davis; Kayla Musgrave, Rochelle; John Owensby, Elburn; Allison Page, Mount Morris; Jenna Scheri, Cortland; Isaiah Thomas, Oswego; Arcenia Troutman, Hinckley; Cynthia Valencia, Rochelle; and Amanda Winn, Mendota.
The ceremony included welcoming remarks by Jerry Fox, Director of the Radiologic Technology Program, as well as Bette Chilton, Dean of Health and Education, and Marie Meadors, Clinical Coordinator. The student speaker was Kayla Musgrave.
The tradition of pinning healthcare graduates originates with the nursing profession in 1860 when Florence Nightingale presented a lapel pin to her best students. Over the years, other healthcare professions have added the practice to their graduation traditions to symbolize an official initiation into the students’ chosen healthcare profession.
At the Kishwaukee College Radiologic Technology Pinning, each graduate was called by Jerry Fox, pinned individually by Lori Damask, Clinical instructor, and congratulated by Marie Meadors. Each graduate then recognized family and friends who had been supportive of their efforts as a student, giving family and friends a rose in gratitude. Graduates, family and friends then enjoyed light refreshments in the Kishwaukee College Conference Center Dining Room.
