MALTA — The Kishwaukee College Library will be hosting a presentation by Dr. Ashley Becker titled “What Does the Nation Owe to Those Who Fight?” on Tuesday, April 25 from 11 a.m. – noon in Room C1130 in the Kishwaukee College Student Center. The presentation is the final event in the Library’s Spring series on World War I and America. The event is free and open to the public.
Dr. Ashley Becker is the Senior Director for Academic Affairs at the Illinois Community College Board (ICCB). She herself is a veteran as well as a military spouse. Military veterans pursuing higher education and training are of particular interest to Dr. Becker and she has explored veterans’ experiences in seeking post-service education and general re-acclimation to civilian life.
This programming is part of World War I and America, a two-year national initiative of the Library of America presented in partnership with The Gilder Lehrman Institute of American History, the National World War I Museum and Memorial, and other organizations, with generous support from the National Endowment for the Humanities.
