ROCHELLE – The Rochelle Kiwanis Golden K recently made a donation to the Pegasus Special Riders and announced its five 2020 scholarship recipients.
Kiwanis member Dennis Swinton presented a $500 check to the Pegasus Special Riders administrator Ellie Brauhn. The Pegasus Special Riders, located at South Carthage Road in Oregon, is a therapeutic horseback riding group that works with handicapped patients. The Pegasus Special Riders currently has two volunteers that work with 15 youths and the organization always welcomes visitors.
The Kiwanis Golden K also announced its five RTHS 2020 graduates who were selected to receive $1,000 scholarships. The five students who were chosen are Jasmine Hennessee in honor of Danae White for her exemplary leadership to the RTHS Key Club and Kaitlynn Ost in memory of Tom Villa who served as president and was a willing worker.
Other scholarship recipients were Victoria Lopez-Perez in honor of Dennis Swinton for his exceptional leadership and commitment to the RTHS Key Club, Catlin McMurray and Olivia Ramos who is the recipient of the John Havens Golden K Kiwanis Scholarship.
“These students are to be congratulated for their enthusiasm and support for the RTHS Key Club,” Rochelle Kiwanis Golden K member Hugh McDermitt wrote in a press release.
