ROCHELLE — Katie Dummer knew she had to stay focused when the Lady Hubs varsity bowling team hosted the Lisle Lions for a nonconference meet at Rochelle’s T-Byrd Lanes on Thursday. And after putting up a big three-game series against the Morris Redskins earlier this week, the Lady Hub senior recorded the best performance of her high school career.

While Lisle managed to take all three games from Rochelle on Thursday, the story of the night was Dummer’s spectacular performance on the lanes. The senior began her series with 256 before shooting 254 and 250 over her next two games to end the match with a team-high and career-high 760 series.

“I had a lot of support out there tonight,” Dummer said. “I think I just found a sweet spot and I’ve kept myself in the zone lately. This is my highest series ever and the feeling is phenomenal. Both of my parents were there at the end to see how I finished which was the best thing to happen.”

Lisle took the first game 907-739 behind 210 from Haley Kowalski. The Lions then won the second game 920-830, with Sophie Osborn rolling 211 for Lisle and senior Carlie Elder shooting 234 for the Lady Hubs. Lisle closed out the match with a 1,001-731 victory in the third game behind 228 from Daphne Hoffman. The Lions outpaced Rochelle by a final score of 2,828-2,300.

Dummer’s previous career-high series score came when Rochelle faced off against Morris on Tuesday, with the Redskins winning 2,986-2,483. The senior totaled 233 in her first game before following up with 245 and 247 for a final series score of 725. Rochelle’s record currently stands at 2-7 overall.

“Joey [Johanning] always says, ‘take it one shot at a time,’” said Dummer, who is signing her National Letter of Intent to continue her bowling career at Highland Community College next Friday at 6:30 p.m. at Rochelle’s T-Byrd Lanes. “I’ve been growing closer to those words every meet… I’m signing with my college soon as well and I think that is another reason why I have been able to boost my confidence and perform better this week.”
