DEKALB — Looking for its first two-game win streak of the season, the Lady Hubs varsity softball team traveled to DeKalb High School on Wednesday for a conference showdown with the Barbs. Rochelle struck first, but DeKalb responded emphatically with eight runs over the first two innings en route to a 10-2 win over the purple and white.
Three Lady Hub players notched two hits in the game including junior Britney Salinas, who went 2-for-4 with one RBI. Senior Paige Myroth and junior Teddi Hacaga combined to go 4-for-7 at the dish, with Hacaga driving the ball for a double.
Junior Alyssa Stechsculte drove in Rochelle’s second run of the game on an RBI single, and junior Jessie Meyers went 1-for-3 to round out the Lady Hub offense on Wednesday. The loss drops RTHS to 2-16 on the year, and the girls will return home for a conference game against the Sterling Golden Warriors on Thursday.
