FREEPORT — The Lady Hubs varsity softball team hit the road for a pair of nonconference games this past week, with the Rochelle girls falling in a close battle at Belvidere North on Wednesday before taking a tough loss against Freeport on Thursday. The Lady Hubs are now 0-3 on the season.
Belvidere North defeated Rochelle by a score of 14-12 on Wednesday, with senior Britney Salinas leading the Lady Hubs at the plate with a 2-for-4 performance. Freshman Bella Lodico added a double, while senior Sarena Abdallah reached base three times on one hit and two walks. Junior Maddi O’Rorke walked three times, and senior Teddi Hacaga went 1-for-4.
The Lady Hubs fell at Freeport on Thursday by a score of 22-0. The Pretzels entered the game on a roll after taking down both Lena-Winslow and Fulton by a combined score of 37-3. Salinas recorded two doubles for Rochelle, while Abdallah added two singles in the loss.
Rochelle will play its next game against Rockford Boylan on the road Wednesday, March 28 at 4:30 p.m.
