BELVIDERE — The Lady Hubs varsity tennis team continued its busy week on Thursday, with the girls traveling to Belvidere High School for a nonconference match against the Bucs.
Rochelle avoided a shutout at DeKalb on Wednesday, but the Lady Hubs were unable to earn any victories on Thursday, falling to Belvidere by a score of 5-0 to move to 0-3 on the season. Senior Alex Nava fell to Luzia Hernandez (2-6, 0-6) in No. 1 singles, while senior Jasmin Galvan played a close first set against Gabrielle Bluege before falling 5-7, 1-6.
Belvidere’s Bryanna Williams and Natalie Cortez took down Rochelle seniors Raquel Montelongo and Marissa Belmonte at No. 1 doubles (6-2, 6-4), while Casey Clubb and Jackie Espinoza defeated Lady Hub senior Lillian Fulgencio and sophomore Kate Monfils in No. 2 doubles (6-2, 6-2). Rochelle junior Lila Roush and senior Anahi Calderon fell to Belvidere’s Anahi Rodriguez and Ivonne Aguilar in No. 3 doubles, 2-6, 4-6.

The Lady Hubs junior varsity tennis team picked up two match wins in a 2-2 draw to Belvidere on Thursday. Jasmine Rissman and Ashlynn Leininger won their No. 1 doubles match 10-8, while Ruth Gardner and Caitlin McMurray picked up their second win of the year at No. 2 doubles, 10-5.
Melanie Gonzalez and Elena Pelayo fell at No. 3 doubles (5-10), with Mindy Pelayo rounding out the junior varsity team at No. 1 singles (4-6, 2-6).
