ROCHELLE — The Lady Hubs varsity tennis team played a series of close matches against Hononegah on Monday, but the Rochelle girls were unable to bring home any victories, falling to the Indians by a final score of 5-0.
Seniors Jasmin Galvan and Alex Nava made things difficult for Hononegah in singles play, with Galvan fighting hard in the second set of her No. 1 singles match and Nava battling to the finish of her No. 2 singles match. Both Rochelle girls came up just short though, with Galvan falling 2-6, 5-7 and Nava losing 3-6, 5-7.
Seniors Marissa Belmonte and Raquel Montelongo fell 1-6, 0-6 at No. 1 doubles, while sophomore Kate Monfils and senior Lillian Fulgencio lost 1-6, 1-6 in No. 2 doubles. Senior Anahi Calderon and junior Ashlynn Leininger were defeated 0-6, 1-6 at No. 3 doubles to round out the varsity matches on Monday.
