MAPLE PARK — The Lady Hubs varsity tennis team faced off against the Kaneland Knights on Tuesday, with the Rochelle girls fighting hard but falling by a score of 5-0 to drop to 0-5 on the season.
Senior Alex Nava dropped a two-set match to Kaneland’s Madelynn Jurasek (0-6, 0-6) at No. 1 singles, while Piper Schrepferman defeated Rochelle senior Jasmin Galvan 6-0, 6-0 in No. 2 singles. Lady Hub seniors Marissa Belmonte and Raquel Montelongo fell 0-6, 1-6 to Erin McMullen and Anna Carlson at No. 1 doubles.
Seniors Lillian Fulgencio and Anahi Calderon joined forces at No. 2 doubles, with the girls falling to Kaneland’s Haley Plach and Ingrid Napiorkowski 0-6, 0-6. Rochelle junior Lila Roush and sophomore RuthAnne Gardner took the court in No. 3 doubles, falling to Kaneland’s Ava Mandale and Christel Lamera by a score of 1-6, 1-6.
The Lady Hubs will return to action at Ottawa on Thursday.

The Lady Hubs junior varsity tennis team fell to Kaneland by a score of 5-0, with Mindy Pelayo (3-6, 1-6) and Melanie Gonzalez (2-6, 0-6) going down at No. 1 singles and No. 2 singles, respectively. Jasmine Rissman and Ashlynn Leininger lost at No. 1 doubles, 2-6, 1-6.
Paige Rowland and Caitlin McMurray went down 0-6, 0-6 at No. 2 doubles, with Charlotte Laurel and Elena Pelayo falling 0-6, 1-6 in No. 3 doubles.
