ROCHELLE — The Lady Hubs varsity tennis team welcomed the Sterling Golden Warriors to Rochelle Township High School on Thursday, but the purple and white were unable to capture a victory, falling by a score of 5-0.
Senior Alex Nava fell to Sterling’s Katelyn Grell at No. 1 singles (0-6, 0-6), while senior Jasmin Galvan dropped a two-set match to Abby Aitken 0-6, 1-6. Rochelle seniors Marissa Belmonte and Raquel Montelongo played a close first set against Golden Warriors Sonia Chino and Saryn Seeley at No. 1 doubles, but the Lady Hubs lost the match 5-7, 0-6.
Sterling’s Alyssa Marquez and Hannah Chromek defeated Lady Hub seniors Lillian Fulgencio and Anahi Calderon in No. 2 doubles (6-3, 6-3), with Sam Spaulding and Lauren Humphreys taking down Rochelle junior Lila Roush and sophomore Kate Monfils 6-0, 6-1. The Lady Hubs drop to 0-10 on the season.
