ROCHELLE — Larry E. Watson, 78, of Rochelle passed away at his home early on the morning of Sept. 6. Larry was born on July 9, 1944, the son of James and Eleanor (Bunger) Watson in Rochelle. On Dec. 21, 1963, he married Sharon Kay Ramsey in Rochelle.
His surviving family members include his wife, Sharon Watson of nearly 59 years; three children: Dawn Watson of Plover, Wisconsin, Kym (Chris) Vasey of North Aurora and Scot Watson of Rochelle. He was the proud grandfather of seven grandchildren: Felicity, Camille, Carmen, Jenna, Gage, Taylin and Kaylee and six great grandchildren: Natalie, Benjamin, Scarlett, Clover, Archer, and Clara Belle. He also left behind one brother, Jim (Kathy) Watson of Lost Nation and two sisters: Pat Coons of Rochelle, and Julia Lichtenberger of California.
He is predeceased by his parents Jim Watson, Eleanor Watson, and his brother, David Watson.
Throughout his life, Larry enjoyed fishing, traveling and cheering on the Green Bay Packers. For several years, he successfully operated his own business called the Watson’s Village Market. As a board member at the Rochelle Wildlife Conservation Club for more than 40 years, he was the go-to man managing steak frys for hundreds of people every year. Larry was also a member of the Moose and part owner of Regional Ready Mix. He will be greatly missed by his family.
