ROCHELLE — The League of Women Voters will hold a candidates’ forum at Rochelle City Hall on Sunday, March 17 from 1-5 p.m. for the Rochelle mayor and council positions to be voted in the Tuesday, April 2 election.

Three candidates for mayor will be interviewed from 1:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.: John Bearrows, Cassondra Losoya and Chet Olson. Seven candidates for city council will be interviewed from 2:30-5 p.m.: Donald Burke, Ryan Carson, Ann-Marie Green, John Gruben, Bil Hayes, Tom McDermott and Jeffrey Phillips.

Candidates will give opening statements of their qualifications and reasons for running for office.        The moderator will pose questions to all candidates and the audience may submit written questions by note cards.  Audience participants may visit informally with the candidates after the forum.

This is an opportunity to understand and meet the candidates who may represent them on the council for the next four years.  Many important decisions will be made including strategic and financial plans, land use, infrastructure, public safety, economic development and cooperative agreements with other governmental bodies.  The public is encouraged to attend in person or listen to this event on WRHL radio.
