Little League: 12U Softball All-Stars fall to Bi-County

13-3 loss on Sunday ends state tournament run

RIVER FOREST — The Rochelle Little League 12U Softball All-Stars fell 13-3 against Bi-County in the consolation bracket of the Illinois Little League State Championship tournament on Sunday. Rochelle went 1-2 at the state tournament and 4-3 overall in the postseason.

Alyssa Simental and Alexa Soto drew bases-loaded walks in consecutive at-bats to give the Rochelle All-Stars a 2-0 lead in the top of the first inning. Bi-County surged ahead in the bottom of the first inning, scoring six runs on three hits and three walks. Trailing 7-2 after Bi-County tallied one run in the bottom of the second inning, Rochelle earned one run back when Jaylyn Pointer scored Mackenzie Taylor on an RBI groundout in the top of the fourth inning.

Bi-County sealed its win with another six-run frame in the bottom of the fourth inning. Aeriss Williams singled in the top of the third inning for Rochelle’s first and only hit of the game. Ella Behrens started in the pitcher’s circle, throwing three innings and striking out four batters.
